Allergy

So it turns out Bella is allergic to Penicillin. If you remember my post from Mother's Day about sick kids, Bella was getting over a virus and double ear infections. Of course the doctor prescribed the old standby, Amoxicilin which is made with Penicillin. This morning Bella had her last dose and immediately broke out in a full body rash from head to toe. I of course wondered if it was the sunscreen from the weekend, the bunches of strawberries she has been eating and yes maybe the antibiotic.
We took her in to be looked at by her pediatrician and they put in place what was called a "rash protocol". We had to call the front desk upon arrival and they would send a "representative" to escort us to a room via "super secret ninja" back entrance. Bella was very excited to get all the attention and I'm pretty sure she felt like a little mini-spy.
After her examination, the doctor said she is definitely allergic to the antibiotic and can't have it ever again. Apparently it takes a certain number or exposures to show up and it's pretty normal to happen after the 10 days of taking the stuff. The doctor is also "almost certain" that she won't go into anaphylactic shock. I would have preferred her saying "absolutely certain". As of 8:41pm she is fine.
So Bella is in bed, hopped up on Benedryl, although "terribly itchy" (her words) doing just fine. Now that I think about it she has been "itchy" for about 10 days.

Red Robin

Due to the really hot weather, we decided to take a break for lunch at Red Robin. Logan is getting better in restaurant highchairs...

Bella couldn't look more bored, and yes she kept her sunglasses on the whole time.

Cameron was the only happy one, he seemed roll with the punches...such a calm guy.

Time out

I must be a bad mom because this the cutest thing I've ever seen!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day turned out ok considering the sicky's we had at the house. The kids were doing a lot better and actually had a few moments of getting along. They snuggled together, shared pudding and just caused mischief as usual.

Happy almost Mother's Day...

So far the night before Mother's Day is eventful in the Leonardson house. As of last night we have three sick kids! Cameron is the least sick of the three with just a runny nose and a little cough. Bella had us up all night last night with ear pain and sore throat...we took her to the doctor this morning to find out she has one ruptured ear drum, one bulging ear drum and a red, sore throat. Logan has the worst cough I've heard from a baby in a long time...it pretty much sounds like he is going to cough up a lung...

Happy Mother's Day to me!

Just in case this is the only picture we will ever have of the kids all getting along at once. I thought I'd share this moment.

Morning conversation between Bella and Daddy...

Darin: "Bella, give me a hug."
Bella: (with her doctor equipment)
Darin: "Are you checking my heart?"
Bella: "I can hear it beeping" and "I can hear God"
Darin: "You can hear God in my heart?" "Why can you hear God in my heart?"
Bella: "That is where you hear God and Jesus, That is how you talk to him."
Darin: "What do you say to him when you talk to him?"
Bella: "Anything, he listens"
Darin: "What happens when you ask him for things?"
Bella: "He does it for you" "God is in your heart, he listens to you"

At this point, mom starts to cry at the innocent, open, complete faith of a four year old. Wouldn't it be nice if we all could be so open and matter of fact about the incredible goodness of God.
